Photographs of Central America and works by a ceramics artist from Bloomsburg are featured in a new student exhibition “Flavors of the Sun,” on display through Monday, Oct. 19, at Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania’s Kehr Union, Multicultural Center, room 230.

Students enrolled in BU’s museum exhibition course partnered with photographer Lauren Lamas and ceramics artist Abigail Smith Kurecian to present this exhibit. “Flavors of the Sun,” a practicum for the class, is sponsored by the art and art history department and the Multicultural Affairs Office.

Lamas, a student at Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, took thousands of photographs while studying in Costa Rica during spring 2009. Ceramicist Kurecian began creating in clay at a young age. She studied at the Art Institute of Boston and, after graduation, moved to Scottsdale, Ariz., where she rediscovered her passion for ceramics.
