Chancellor to Address Economy at Democracy Matters
Dr. John C. Cavanaugh, chancellor of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education, will speak about economic issues facing students on Thursday, April 9, at Bloomsburg University.

Cavanaugh is scheduled to speak at 11:45 a.m. as part of “All-day Dialogue” sponsored by the Bloomsburg University chapter of Democracy Matters. The event will be held from 9:30 a.m. until 3:15 p.m. in the amphitheatre outside Scranton Commons.
Cavanaugh’s speech is believed to be one of the first times the chancellor has publicly spoken about students and the economy since Pennsylvania and the rest of the nation experienced a major financial crisis beginning in October.
Democracy Matters, a non-partisan campus-based project of Common Cause, works to get big, private money out of politics and people back in. Democracy Matters mentors the next generation of leaders dedicated to strengthening our democracy. Students organize actions and projects connecting pro-democracy reforms to issues of environment, civil rights, education, health care, foreign policy, and more.
The April 9 event is free and is open to all Bloomsburg students, faculty, staff, and the community.
