Bloomsburg University professor James Tomlinson, directed students enrolled in a class learning about survey research in performing the surveys and released the results of that research. The campus survey was a non-scientific survey of voting preferences of Bloomsburg University students. The telephone survey was a random telephone survey of voting preferences of registered voters in Columbia County. Tomlinson has conducted pre-election surveys of the county and the campus since 1988.
